CitiPark Gets A Splash of Colour in Ilford

From Parking Space to Art Place: A New Mural Lands in Ilford

CitiPark has given its Ilford car park a splash of colour, providing the rooftop space for a striking new mural by acclaimed artists Remi Rough and Jason System as part of Ilford inColour.

The rooftop of CitiPark’s car park has been transformed into a canvas for the large-scale artwork, bringing contemporary street art to an unexpected location in the heart of Ilford.

Ilford inColour is an initiative led by Ilford BID, bringing artists, local businesses and the wider community together to celebrate creativity and transform spaces across the town.

As part of the programme, CitiPark provided its rooftop as a dedicated space for the new mural, supporting the BID’s vision to bring more art and colour into Ilford.

The artwork has been created by Remi Rough and Jason System, two established names in the UK street art and graffiti scene, whose bold, contemporary work adds a new visual landmark to the town.

For CitiPark, the project offered an opportunity to see one of its everyday spaces in a completely different way – turning a functional car park rooftop into a platform for creativity and community.

David Haswell, Area Manager at CitiPark, said:

“We’re really pleased to support Ilford inColour by providing our rooftop space as a canvas for this fantastic artwork. A car park might not be the first place you would expect to find a large-scale piece of contemporary art, which is exactly what makes the project so exciting.

“Our car parks are part of the communities they serve, and we’re always keen to support initiatives that make a positive contribution to the local area.

"It’s great to see our space being used in such a creative way and to help bring more colour to Ilford.”

The collaboration between Ilford BID, CitiPark and the artists demonstrates how existing spaces within a town centre can be reimagined to create new experiences for residents, visitors and local businesses.

Cyril Bekoe, BID Manager at Ilford BID, said:

“Ilford inColour is about bringing creativity, character and art to our town centre, including unexpected spaces such as car parks.

“CitiPark has shown great leadership and vision by helping us demonstrate how car parks can be transformed through bright colours and art, making every day journeys feel friendlier, more comfortable and even a little adventurous, while giving people greater confidence as they move through the town centre.

"The partnership with CitiPark was central to the success of Ilford inColour 2026 and will remain so in years to come.

"By working together, we can enhance more spaces, encourage positive activity and create a town centre that feels vibrant, safe , welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.”

The mural forms part of the wider Ilford inColour programme, which aims to celebrate creativity, culture and community while showcasing Ilford as a destination for art and creative activity.

For CitiPark, the project highlights its role as a local business and its commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates – demonstrating that even a space designed for parking can become part of the cultural fabric of a town.
